Studio City Macau and NOWNESS Present the "Macau 8 Minutes" Emerging Filmmaker Program

At a time when cinema and urban narratives continue to intersect, Studio City Macau joins forces with the global creative short-film platform NOWNESS to officially launch the worldwide open call for the "Macau 8 Minutes" Emerging Filmmaker Program.

“Macau 8 Minutes” adopts a highly symbolic time frame as its creative proposition, challenging young filmmakers to distil both the spirit of the city and personal expression within a concise duration. Open to emerging filmmakers worldwide, the program invites original short-film proposals inspired by and set in Macau, exploring the city's distinctive cultural texture shaped by the convergence of history and modernity, as well as Eastern and Western influences.

The program will select three emerging filmmakers and their short film project proposals through the open call. Each will receive RMB 250,000 in production funding to create an original 8-minute short film shot in Macau. 

The program will invite three acclaimed Asian filmmakers with international perspectives to form a mentor and jury panel, participating in the creative refinement and providing on‑set guidance for the selected short films. The mentor lineup will be announced shortly, please stay tuned. 

The selected short film projects will be announced in mid-July 2026, followed by the creative development and production phase. The three completed short films will premiere at Studio City Macau in December 2026, alongside a series of cultural programs including screenings, panel discussions, and a gala dinner, providing a high‑caliber platform to showcase and exchange.

Studio City Macau presents the experience of the year —"Disney Palette of Happiness". Here, color becomes a language of emotion, and each setting as an extension of storytelling. Guests are invited to journey alongside beloved Disney friend's installment through jungles, across oceans, and into the skies, embarking on a joyful adventure that blurs the boundaries between imagination and reality through layers of immersive experiences. No admission ticket is required. Guests are free to step into this dreamlike world at their leisure.
